THIS WEEK AT BROADWAY

2020 World Hunger Offering for Gori Soup Kitchen
Sunday, November 22, 2020

This Sunday Broadway is collecting our annual Offering for World Hunger. The purpose of this offering is to financially support our global missions partners who are addressing hunger and food insecurity issues around the world.

All proceeds from this year’s offering will go to support the the soup kitchen in Gori in the Republic of Georgia. The soup kitchen serves hundreds of meals each week to refugees and people battling food insecurity in this war-torn country. The soup kitchen is a ministry of Peace Cathedral Evangelical Baptist Church in the Republic of Georgia, one of our global missions partners.

You can make your contributions to the Offering for World Hunger through our website and on the church’s mobile app. We will also be collecting these offerings at our in-person worship service on Sunday, November 22. Checks should indicate in the memo line that they are for the Offering for World Hunger.

Tarrant Churches Together Recognizes Broadway
At a recent awards event, Tarrant Churches Together (TCT) recognized Broadway Baptist Church for our support of the community during the COVID-19 crisis. TCT awarded Broadway the Nehemiah Leadership Award for our efforts in building community during the pandemic. In addition to providing essential services through our May Street Market, Community Center, and Agape Meal, Broadway was recognized for our meal partnership with Samaritan House, our partnership with Fort Worth ISD while school campuses were closed, providing expanded access to food through our Fresh and Free distribution, distributing school uniforms to support students and families in need, and our partnership with Clayton Youth Services to provide childcare and school support for working families. Thanks to our Broadway staff and volunteers who make these ministries possible. We are so blessed by your faithfulness in these difficult times. Thanks be to God!

CAMP BROADWAY

Camp Update
By Fran Patterson, Director of Camp Broadway Ministries

We continue to stay busy at Camp Broadway, making improvements and dreaming of the future.  Here are a few additions and improvements we celebrate and give thanks for this month:

  • Dedication of Dina’s Glen:  The Quiet House at Camp Broadway

  • “Debbie the Dumpster” has a new home!  Thanks to a generous gift of materials and labor from the Broyles family, we have a new enclosure around the dumpster.

  • New steps at the Lodge. Thank you to Bruce Hamilton who donated his time and talents to build a new, stone stairway to the front of the Lodge.
  • Gary Mauldin continues to rack up volunteer hours…most recently by chipping and chopping and shredding a mile-high pile of branches and brush from around the Camp.

This is a great time to come and visit Camp Broadway!  Call or text 817-845-8876 or email Fran to make a reservation today!

Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  In an attempt to assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.
