Leaving a Legacy for Generations to Come

Broadway Baptist Church was established in 1882 at its current location between South Main and Jennings Streets. Over the generations the church has grown from a simple clapboard building to the signature neo-gothic building which is an icon in the re-emerging Near Southside neighborhood today. Well known for its long-standing commitment to the needs of the community, Broadway believes the ministry of Jesus brings good news to the soul and body as well as the City. Broadway continues to be committed to the people of Fort Worth and beyond, providing uplifting worship to God and spiritual and physical sustenance and sanctuary to all.

The Cornerstone Society honors those who have made a commitment to the future of Broadway through an estate gift such as a bequest in a will or living trust, a beneficiary designation of retirement assets or life insurance or other planned giving arrangements. When you designate Broadway as the beneficiary of your estate gift, you become a member of the Cornerstone Society, a group of members and friends whose love for our church transcends a single generation.

“Broadway’s commitment to working to achieve the justice of God, and its outreach ministries to the community, such as the Agape Meal and the Community Center are two of the primary reasons it is my place of worship.

The contemplative worship, extraordinary music, and inclusive welcome to all persons speak to my heart. For these reasons, I embrace the idea of including Broadway in my estate plans.”

Mattie Compton, Broadway Member

“We are deeply thankful for the life-giving ministries of Broadway. The experiences of beauty, thoughtful worship, and belonging to a caring community have been meaningful and healing for us.  As an expression of our tremendous gratitude, we have included Broadway in our estate plan. It is our hope that our future gift will help sustain Broadway’s important work of creating a church and world where all people are welcome and belong.”

Daniel Sneed and Mike Stimpson, Broadway Members

“Broadway has been our church home for many years. The worship services, the music and the history of reaching out to neighbors drew us here. The Community Center offered ways for us to be involved in this caring community and to use our energy. Broadway has a rich history. As it makes plans for the future, we can contribute by including the church in our estate planning. It brings us joy to know that the work that began many years ago will continue into the future.”

Richard and Jean Andrus, Broadway Members

“Broadway Baptist Church has provided many blessings to us. A community to do family in. Support received in trials and sadness. Joys shared in happy events.

By joining in the Legacy Program, including Broadway in our estate planning, we see a tangible way to pay forward the blessings we’ve received in the Beloved Community. May Broadway have a long and blessed future!”

Dale and Patricia Whisenant, Broadway Members

“Our God has richly blessed me with a caring community of friends, whom I love and am able to share the many ministry opportunities at Broadway Baptist Church! In gratitude, I have included Broadway in my estate plans to sustain and further enhance our Kingdom work calling for generations to come.”

Elbert Godwin,  Broadway Member

“For many years, Broadway has not only been our church home, but also our extended family. As long-time members, we have seen many changes. But one thing has never changed: Broadway’s unending commitment to caring for those in need. To us, the concept of grace and compassion embodies what Broadway stands for, and what we see as central to spreading the Gospel. It is for these reasons that Garrett and I have decided to include the church in our estate planning. It is one of the most important ways to make sure that Broadway’s mission continues far into the future.”

Scott Green and Garrett Warren, Broadway Members
