World Hunger Offering Update
Broadway continues to collect contributions for our annual World Hunger Offering. To date, we have collected $3,760 in support of our Global Missions Partners. We would love to make this $5,000! Click HERE to help us meet this goal.
All money collected in this year’s offering will go to support the Gori Soup Kitchen in the Republic of Georgia. This vital ministry through the Evangelical Baptists in Georgia provides food and assistance to hundreds of refugees and marginalized people. Their work and ministry has become especially important during the global pandemic.

Hear how this ministry is helping our friends in Georgia. Click here to watch a Courageous Conversation between Senior Pastor Ryon Price and Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili, Metropolitan Patriarch for Evangelical Baptists in the Republic of Georgia.

There is still time to contribute. You can give on our website or through our mobile app. Your gift will help provide nourishment and hope to our sisters and brothers in this war-torn country. Contributions will be received through Sunday, December 6.

Discerning God’s Call: A Cohort for College and Seminary Women
Is God calling you? To church ministry? Chaplaincy? The mission field? To serve the marginalized in our society?

Since 2011 Baptist Women in Ministry has hosted Discernment Retreats for college women sensing a call to ministry. This spring they are adapting this experience of discernment into a virtual cohort which will allow college women from across the country to participate together in the work of discerning their callings.

Participation in the cohort is free. Participants whose applications are selected and who complete the cohort will receive a $200 SCHOLARSHIP at the end of the ten weeks. If you want to know more or if you know college or seminary women who might be interested in attending, please email Lynn Brinkley. Only 20 applicants will be selected to participate in the discernment cohort, so apply by clicking the link below.

The cohort meetings will be held on the following Mondays from 7:30-9:30 PM Eastern: February 15, March 1, March 22, April 5, and April 19.

Quarterly Church Business Meeting
Wednesday, December 16 at 6:30 p.m.

All members are encouraged to attend this upcoming quarterly church business meeting. Details on how to attend will be published prior to the meeting. In the next week members will receive an email communication regarding one agenda item for December’s meeting. Please read the following message from Karen Krause, Chair of Deacons:During his State of the Church address in September, Senior Pastor Ryon Price discussed his ideas for the church to ACT – Acknowledge, Confess, and Transform – in the context of current events and how Broadway can respond.  In October Pastor Ryon shared and ACT letter with the Deacons who reviewed the letter and have approved a recommendation that will be presented to the congregation for discussion and approval during the December quarterly business meeting.

In order to prepare our members for this quarterly business meeting discussion, an email went out yesterday with details regarding the process to date, a copy of the ACT letter from Pastor Ryon, and the recommendation that will be presented for discussion and approval. Additionally, we are scheduling two group Zoom sessions to allow for congregational input and conversation on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8. A link to register and attend one of two sessions will be included in the email communication. Once received, please prayerfully read the materials and be ready to participate in this important conversation soon.In Christ,  Karen Krause, Chair of Deacons

CAMP BROADWAY

Fishing Anyone?
Last week, Perry Pack and Uncle Presley brought the twins to Camp Broadway for an afternoon of fishing, hiking, and exploring.  They caught…and released…several nice sized catfish and bass.  Lorelei and Perry enjoyed the trails and sitting on the Quiet House porch watching the sail boats.  Asa is a very serious fisherman and Uncle Presley had his hands full keeping bait on the hooks and untangling fishing lines.

If you like to fish, or just like to enjoy the great outdoors, contact Fran Patterson and she will arrange a safe time and space for you to visit Camp Broadway. Fran will be happy to give you the grand tour and show off our new Quiet House.

MORE THAN ONE WAY

Earth Friendly
By the BBC Recycle Guild

This graphic is a helpful reminder on how to become more sustainable.

REFUSE: Just say no to straws, plastic ware, plastic bags, and things you don’t need

REDUCE: Reduce consumption and find ways to use less; live more simply

REUSE: Choose sustainable options like reusable shopping bags; repurpose or donate items rather than throw them away

RECYCLE: Choose packaging and materials that can easily and effectively be recycled

ROT: Start a compost bin or use coffee grounds and egg shells in your gardenRemember: Everything we throw out winds up in a landfill. Help protect our planet.

Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  In an attempt to assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.
