COMMUNITY CORNER
Samaritan House Partnership
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Broadway has partnered with our neighbors at Samaritan House to provide three weekly meals to the residents and staff. Residents at this nearby facility are single men and women who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and have previously experienced homelessness. Since their residents are among the most vulnerable to the virus, Samaritan House made the decision early in the pandemic to close their facility in an effort to keep residents and staff safe.

As vaccination rates continue to climb in Tarrant County, Samaritan House has made the decision to reopen their campus starting in May.

Over the last 12 months, Broadway has provided 7,500 meals to the staff and residents of Samaritan House. Thanks to Chef Bruce and Devante Howard, who have prepared the meals, and to our dedicated volunteers who have helped with weekly deliveries: Jim and Cherry Langford, Chris Carlson, Becky Delaune, and Rosemary Hammond. Thanks also to the Broadway members and friends who have generously given to support this ministry, especially the Journey4Life Department for their early financial support of this partnership.

As Samaritan House reopens its campus, Broadway will continue to look for ways to partner with and support our neighbors.

Agape Anniversary
This April marks the 26th anniversary of the Agape Meal at Broadway. For the last quarter century, friends and neighbors have met to share a meal together, worship together, build relationships, and celebrate the gifts of everyone in our community. The Agape Meal was established to provide a family-style meal where everyone is welcome and people are treated with dignity and respect.

While our Agape Meal looks different during this time of pandemic, we are still blessed to share hot, to-go meals each week with our neighbors along with prayers, smiles, and words of encouragement. Thanks to the many volunteers who have built and sustained this ministry over the years and who continue to do so during the pandemic. We look forward to the time when we can again gather around the table and say these words to one another: “God wants you to have this bread.”

Message of Gratitude
“I am thankful that Broadway is a praying church.  I am thankful that members know that when there is a need we will pray for them. We believe God hears and answers our prayers.”  Rosemary Hammond

Extraordinary Generosity
Thank you Broadway for your extraordinary generosity to the 2020-2021 ministry budget (April 2020 – March 2021) of the church. Your contributions of $1,808,907 exceeded budget plan by $33,607. This is tremendous and we are greatly encouraged by your faithfulness.  Your constancy during this uncertain time has allowed Broadway to respond with love and compassion to the overwhelming needs of our community and church family. While things around us continue to change, your commitment to giving strengthens Broadway’s mission of sharing in Christ’s work of reconciling the world to God.

With gratitude,
The Stewardship & Finance Committee

MORE THAN ONE WAY
Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  In an attempt to assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.
