All Invited to Coffee & Fellowship in Room 302
Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

Make a plan to stop by the Good Shepherd Room this Sunday morning and meet up with other friends and guests of Broadway before your class starts. Coffee and pastries are served each Sunday from 9:00 – 9:30 in Room 302.

This week our coffee fellowship features delicious homemade pastries from our neighborhood friends at Stir Crazy Baked Goods as well as regular and decaf coffee from our local Starbucks. Hot tea is also available.

Broadway’s coffee fellowship is a pay-what-you-can coffee house. Everyone is encouraged to do one of three things:

  • pay what you can afford
  • pay what you would normally pay
  • pay it forward, i.e., pay what you normally would, plus a little extra

Stop by Sunday morning to support these great local businesses, enjoy some delicious coffee and pastries, and fellowship with your friends at Broadway.

Worship Sunday, August 8, at 10:50 a.m.
This Sunday is Promotion Sunday. We will rejoice with our younger members as they move to their new classes with an Affirmation of a New School Year and Broadway’s Blessing of the Backpacks. We also will celebrate Bradley Reznicek’s first Sunday as our new Church Organist. The Chancel Choir will sing “Rejoice, the Lord Is King” and “In Thee Is Gladness.”

Join us for worship in person or via live stream on our website or on our Facebook page.

COMMUNITY CORNER
July by the Numbers
July was another busy month at our Community Center as we continue to provide essential services to our neighbors and guests.

Here’s a brief report of services provided in July:

  • Sack Lunches: 984 lunches distributed
  • Groceries: 136 households served (413 persons)
  • Agape Meal: 363 guests served
  • Adult Clothing Ministry: 89 people served
  • Rental Assistance: $1,280 in financial assistance provided
  • Diaper Bank: 4 families served

Thanks to our great staff and volunteers who make these ministries possible and those who give financially to support these ministries and partnerships.

School Uniforms
Classes begin for Fort Worth ISD students on Monday, August 16. Broadway is helping families prepare for the school year by providing uniforms for FWISD students. Each student receives two shirts, two pants, socks, and underwear. Families can register for uniforms on Thursdays in August from 11:00 – noon at the Community Center. Parents should bring a photo ID, verification of school enrollment, and sizes for children. At registration, families will be given a date and time for uniform pickup later in August. Click HERE to view flyer.

Community Center Needs
Even during the pandemic; we continue to distribute clothes to our neighbors in need through the Adult Clothing Room in our Community Center. At present, there is a great need for new and gently used men’s and women’s tennis shoes and comfortable walking shoes. All sizes are needed. You can drop these off at the Community Center between 9:00 – noon, Monday through Friday. Contact Dawn Shepard (email link) to arrange a different drop-off time. If you do not feel comfortable shopping for the shoes at this time, please consider making a financial donation to the Adult Clothing Room or Community Center. Thanks.

MORE THAN ONE WAY
Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  To assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.
