BROADWAY CELEBRATES

Advent Celebrations!

Hanging of the Green was Wednesday, December 1. Broadway’s Youth,  Club 56, and children led this traditional Advent service with several musical solos from our talented youth!

This past Saturday, December 4 was the return of the Gingerbread House Party at Broadway. The turnout was great and we even had a visit from Santa! Thanks to our Family Ministry team and volunteers for organizing this fun event!

Broadway Alternative Gift Catalog 2021
Broadway has the perfect solution for your Christmas shopping this year. Our Alternative Gift Catalog allows you to choose a meaningful gift to honor a loved one or friend from the safety and security of your home. The catalog includes gifts that support six different areas of Broadway ministries: Camp Broadway, Community Ministries, Congregational Care, Family Ministries, Missions, and Music Ministries.

You can view the catalog here

You can choose the pre-selected amount on any gift or choose an amount that is right for you. Broadway will send a personalized card to each person you give a gift to. We will not mention the amount of your donation, but we will include the ministry area you selected for them.

All gifts are tax-deductible and will be included in your year-end giving statement from the church.

2022-23 Stewardship Pledge Update
Thanks to everyone who has already submitted their pledge card. To date, we’ve received 180 pledges with a total pledge amount of $1,245,000. This pledge amount represents about 83% of our total pledge goal.

This is excellent progress towards our budget pledge, but we still have work to do. We still need $255,000 in pledges to reach our goal of $1.5 million. Pledges help us accurately and responsibly plan for our 2022-23 budget.

If you have not submitted your pledge card yet, there are three ways that you can submit it:

  • Complete the pledge card you received in the mail and send it back to the church office
  • Go the GIVE page on the church’s website and complete the online pledge card
  • Place your completed pledge card in the offering plate on Sunday (cards are available in the Centrum)

Your pledge helps Broadway put our “faith and love into action.”

MORE THAN ONE WAY
Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  To assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
Many of Broadway’s supporters take advantage of an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
What is a QCD? A 2015 Federal Law passed allowing donors over the age of 70 the opportunity to make gifts to their church directly from their IRA. This provides 2 huge donor benefits as follows:

  1. Excludes the amount of their gift from taxable personal gross income
  2. Counts toward their IRA’s required minimum distribution.

Remember: Transfers are limited to $100,000 per taxpayer per year and the transfer must be transmitted directly from your IRA administrator to the church.  Some additional limitations may apply.
Broadway Baptist Church does not give tax advice.  You should contact your tax advisor to obtain information about the effect such a gift would have on your taxes.
If you want to make an IRA qualified charitable distribution to Broadway Baptist Church, you will need to contact your financial advisor to complete the needed paperwork. You will need the following Broadway mailing information:

Rachael Moffett, Accounting Associate
Broadway Baptist Church
305 W. Broadway Ave
Fort Worth, TX 76411

Need additional assistance or information?  Please email Rachael Moffett, Accounting Associate.
