Broadway’s Choral Scholar program benefits students pursuing music degrees in local universities and those degreed artists seeking their place in the music scene of Fort Worth, allowing musicians in training to perform works in the Broadway Concert Series, orchestral events, and in worship services that would not be possible without their voices. InspireArts provides financial support to these students to sing weekly in the Chancel Choir, performing a variety of literature they would not be exposed to in academia, and to enhance their musical education.

Scholars are auditioned and awarded yearly scholarships, mentored by the music staff and supported by the music committee. In addition to performing, many of these scholars serve in various leadership roles throughout the church, teaching music to children and youth.

Choral Scholars report how impactful this program was for their development as musicians, teachers, community leaders and life.

“My time as a Choral Scholar has been incredibly rewarding. This program has allowed me to connect with other musicians in the DFW community, sing with a world-class organ, and study new music alongside its composers. Apart from its professional opportunities, the community in the Chancel Choir is unparalleled. As an out-of-state student, the continual support from my fellow choir members has meant the world to me as I studied at the TCU School of Music.” – Sophie Bougeois, Choral Scholar

“The Choral Scholars program at Broadway has been such a blessing in my life. It combines the beautiful and welcoming church community with high quality music and opportunities to perform. This program has also allowed me to work with the children’s music ministry and gain experience as an educator through weekly lessons and many choral performance opportunities for the church’s newest singers! Broadway’s music continues to bless all those who are a part of it”  – Amber

We are seeking to grow this program beyond TCU to include students from other DFW area universities and young music professionals, increase the number of scholars, and provide young artists with mentoring and performance opportunities that will advance diversity and unity in the community with the talents of these young musicians.
