BROADWAY CELEBRATES

BROADWAY CELEBRATES

Staff Anniversaries
Join us in celebrating the following January staff anniversaries:

Ethel Minter celebrated 33 years on January 1
Jerry Flangin celebrates 33 years on January 15

Thank you Ethel and Jerry for your valued commitment and service to the ministries and people of Broadway!

Financial Update
We are excited to share with you some outstanding news regarding December contributions.

At the beginning of the month, we informed you that we were about $75,000 behind on our contributions YTD, and we were entering our largest contributions goal for the year in December at $228,000.

We are happy to report that, while December financial numbers are still being finalized, it looks like contributions for the month will exceed $350,000, which not only meets our December goal, but also brings us current on our contributions YTD. This was only possible because many of you made your pledged contributions in December and others shared very generous year-end gifts to the church. These contributions will go a long way to keeping Broadway off our Line of Credit loan for the remainder of the fiscal year.

We give thanks for God’s faithfulness and your generous support of the mission and ministries of Broadway Baptist Church!

Broadway is invited to a Letter-Writing Party for Justice! Immediately following worship on Sunday, January 15, all are invited to participate in room 302. Children welcome!

Take action for positive change!  Write a letter to public officials and advocate for the justice you want to see.

All supplies will be provided—pre-written letters that you can simply sign OR sample letters that you can use to write your own. You can write about anything you like. The pre-written letters, postcards, and samples provided will be about:
Reform at the Tarrant County Jail
Gun violence
Legislation that targets transgender youth

And no worries about those hunger pains around lunchtime — the sponsors are  providing finger-food-refreshments for you to enjoy! Stamps, envelopes, paper, pens – all provided for all attendees.

2023-24 Pledge Update
Thanks to everyone who has already submitted their pledge card in support of our 2023-24 operating budget. To date, we have received pledges totaling just over $1,315,000. That puts about 82% of the way towards our pledge goal of $1.6 million.

If you have not already submitted your pledge card, you can complete the online pledge card on the church’s website, mail your completed card to the church office, or place your completed pledge card in the offering plate on Sundays.

Our Finance and Stewardship Committee begins meeting in January to prepare a budget proposal for 2023-24. As responsible stewards, the committee uses the pledge amounts from Broadway members and friends in their budget preparation.

We ask that you submit your pledge for the 2023-24 operating budget by Friday, January 6.

Help us reach our pledge goal of $1.6 million. Please prayerfully consider how God is leading you to support the mission and ministries of Broadway.

COMMUNITY CORNER

Cloud Covered Streets
Broadway will again welcome Cloud Covered Streets to the Community Center on Friday, January 6. This faith-based ministry provides showers, laundry facilities, and haircuts to those in need. On their last visit to our Community Center, they served over 30 guests. We are so thankful to offer these services to our guests and neighbors.

Cloud Covered Streets will be at Broadway’s Community Center on the first, third, and fifth Fridays every month from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help, especially those who are qualified to cut hair. Click here to volunteer.

Here is a list of upcoming dates at Broadway:

  • January 6
  • January 20
  • February 3
  • February 17

Peanut Butter Sundays
Our May Street Market food pantry is in great need of one-pound jars of peanut butter (16 ounces). This is a staple item for families and, currently, the food bank has been challenged to keep it in stock.

On your next trip to the grocery store, please pick up a jar (or two) for our neighbors in need. You can place your donations in the blue cart outside the church office on Sundays or throughout the week.

Let’s fill the cart and our May Street Market shelves this Sunday!

If you’re not able to get to the grocery store, you can give financially to support our May Street Market by visiting the GIVE page on the church’s website.
