BROADWAY CELEBRATES

World Hunger Offering 2021
On Sunday, Broadway collected money for our annual World Hunger Offering. Children, youth, and adults brought their offerings during worship on Sunday to help address world hunger. Nearly 700 million people worldwide go hungry each day. Food insecurity is on the rise in our nation and around the world as a result of the global pandemic and economic hardship.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. To date, we have collected just over $5,000 as part of this year’s offering!

Proceeds from this year’s offering will go to support the soup kitchen in Gori in the Republic of Georgia. The soup kitchen serves hundreds of meals each week to refugees and people battling food insecurity in this war-torn country. The soup kitchen is a ministry of the Evangelical Baptist Church in the Republic of Georgia, a global missions partner of Broadway.

There is still time to contribute. You can make your contributions using this link: World Hunger Offering.  You may also make a donation through our website and on the church’s mobile app by clicking on ‘Give.’ Checks should indicate in the memo line that they are for the World Hunger Offering. Contributions are being accepted through Sunday, October 31.

Broadway Welcomes Afghan Family
This week, Broadway welcomed the first of two families that we will be supporting during their resettlement to Fort Worth. Broadway is providing Good Neighbor Team support for this family in partnership with World Relief. Thanks to our Broadway volunteers who shopped, moved furniture, and setup the apartment for the family’s arrival. We had wonderful welcome signs made by our Broadway Youth. Thanks to the many Broadway members and friends who have donated items and given financially to support this ministry.

For privacy reasons, we can only share with you limited information about the family. The family name is Noori and they have two boys, ages seven and one. They have some family and friends in the area who will be of great assistance to them during this time of transition. Broadway volunteers will help them over the next six months with grocery shopping, transportation to appointments, navigating Fort Worth, getting children enrolled in school, completing required paperwork, and making them feel safe and welcome in our community. Karen Morrow from CBF is assisting Broadway volunteers in welcoming this family. Please be in prayer for the Noori family.

Families on Mission, Halloween Style!
Tonight, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sanctuary & Fellowship Hall

Family Ministries is excited for our Families on Mission event tonight! All families with children in grade 6 or younger are invited to attend this event. Parents participate with their children and we will all be wearing masks. This year’s theme is “Halloween Style” complete with a costume fashion show, trick or treating around the church, and a haunted house hosted by the youth. Families will learn about the mission of Presbyterian Night Shelter and assist in making 100 candy filled treat bags for the children who reside there. Contact Jennifer Davis with questions.

Worship Sunday, October 31 at 10:50 a.m.
This Sunday in worship, we will be joined by oboist Jane Owen on the anthem, “But By Love,” by Dan Forrest. Paul Allen will give a stewardship testimony as we prepare for Pledge Sunday. Ryon Price will preach on Mark 12:28-34.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Update: In response to the recent decrease in cases and hospitalizations, Broadway is no longer requiring masks for staff, volunteers, and guests in the Church offices and Community Center during the week. Click here to read Broadway’s complete policy.

MORE THAN ONE WAY
Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  To assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.
