BROADWAY VISION & MISSION
Broadway seeks to be a beacon of God’s joy and justice, Christ’s hope and reconciliation, and the Holy Spirit’s courage and healing love.

We are working to create a church and world where all people are welcome and belong in the beloved community of God. Through the ministries of worship, education, compassion and advocacy, Broadway provides a place of grace, beauty, sanctuary, inclusivity, and brave faith.

THIS WEEK AT BROADWAY

Family Ministries Cancelled Tonight
Broadway is cancelling all Family Ministries programming for Thursday, February 1, 2024.

We continue to be made aware of a high number of COVID cases within our Family Ministries department.  In order to mitigate further contagion, Broadway is cancelling tonight’s program for children and youth.

We plan to return to regular children and youth programming on Sunday morning. Contact info@broadwaybc.org with questions.

Agape Meal, Tonight at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall
Broadway’s weekly Agape Meal is an opportunity to serve in fellowship with our neighbors. Volunteers are always needed, and this is a wonderful way for friends and family to serve together.

Update: In an effort to protect the health of our guests and volunteers we are requiring all volunteers to wear masks and practice safe social distancing. This is especially important as many of our guests are among the most vulnerable people in our community.

Orientation and training for new volunteers is provided prior to the Agape Meal between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Meal service begins at 6:00 p.m. with a worship service from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. There are several ways to volunteer: set up tables, serve meals, host tables, and clean up. Email Josh Lucas with questions.

Coffee Fellowship Returns to Room 302
Coffee fellowship returns to room 302 this Sunday, February 4 at 9:00 a.m. Enjoy fresh locally made pastries from Three Danes Bakery as well as hot tea and coffee from Cherry Coffee Shop of Fort Worth.

Sunday Worship, February 4 at 10:50 a.m.
This Sunday communion will be observed during worship. The Chancel Choir will sing “O for a Closer Walk with God” and “Set Me as a Seal.” Ryon Price will preach a sermon from Mark 1:29-39.

Broadway Parking Changes on Sunday, February 18

We wanted to inform the congregation of parking changes that will go into effect on Sunday, February 18.

Our new neighbors, Trinity Presbyterian Church, begin services in their facility that Sunday but are limited on parking spaces. They contacted Broadway to inquire about renting some of our parking spaces on Sunday mornings. After discussion with the Finance Committee and the Real Estate Management Committee, the Board of Deacons approved entering into a 12-month parking agreement with Trinity Presbyterian. The agreement provides both parties with an opportunity to exit the agreement with 60-days’ notice.

Trinity Presbyterian will have exclusive use of the parking lot on the northwest corner of our campus. This parking lot is at the intersection of Jennings and Broadway where the bus barn used to be. Members and guests of Trinity Presbyterian will have exclusive use of this parking lot on Sundays between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Broadway members and guests should not use this lot during these times. Temporary signs will be posted each Sunday as a reminder.

Broadway members and guests can continue to use the parking lot on the east side of campus near the Main Entrance, the north lot next to the Better Business Bureau, and the lot on the west side of campus near the Community Center entrance. Parking spaces along Broadway cannot be reserved and are available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis.

Again, these parking changes go into effect on Sunday, February 18. Thanks for your cooperation and extending Broadway’s extravagant hospitality to our new neighbors.

Class Study Invitation: Rescuing the Primeval History (Genesis 1-11) from Biblical Inerrantism and Secular Humanism
All are welcome to join this study led by Rev. Dr. Charles Kiker, Ph.D. on the first 11 chapters of the Hebrew Bible. Class will meet weekly beginning Sunday, Feb. 11 for five to six Sundays. There are two opportunities to choose from for this class:

CBF Emmanuel McCall Lenten Devotional Series Coming Soon!
The 2024 Emmanuel McCall Lenten Devotional series is prepared by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship family and friends. It is a project of love that is designed to be read during the season of Lent, which begins February 14, 2024.

There are wonderful reflections on God’s Word, thought-provoking questions, prayers, incorporation of the arts and noteworthy information.

As the devotional is read, our prayer is that our hearts open to the call of God to speak, walk and act justly. And, may our faith, courage and boldness grow stronger.

Available in both English and Spanish.

COMMUNITY CORNER

Cloud Covered Streets Cancellation
Cloud Covered Streets was scheduled to be at our Community Center this Friday, February 2; however, they have had to cancel. During the recent freezing temperatures, they had two hot water heaters burst on their trailer and they are awaiting replacement.

Assuming repairs can be made, the next date for Cloud Covered Streets at the Community Center will be Friday, February 16. Stay tuned to the Window for more information.

Food Drive for May Street Market
We received over 160 lbs of donated food from generous Broadway members and friends this past weekend. That brings our January total of food donations to over 530 lbs! Thank you to everyone who has stocked our pantry to feed our neighbors.

Donations are still needed! Here are the primary items we need, which are currently in short supply at the Tarrant Area Food Bank:

  • Boxed Mac N Cheese
  • Canned Tomato Sauce
  • Boxes of Cereal
  • Bagged Rice
  • Bagged Pasta

Place your donated items in the blue bin outside the Centrum office on Sunday or bring them by the Community Center any time it is open.

Winter Coats & Blankets Donations Needed
In November and December, Broadway distributed over 250 coats, hats, and gloves to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. As lower temperatures continue, our Community Center continues to receive requests for coats and blankets. Your donations of new or gently used coats and blankets will be a great gift to our Community Center guests over the winter months. Donations can be dropped off in the blue bin near the Centrum office or at the Community Center anytime the Center is open. Contact Holly Alexander for more information about donations.
