THIS WEEK AT BROADWAY

Agape Meal, Tonight at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall
Broadway’s weekly Agape Meal is an opportunity to serve in fellowship with our neighbors. Volunteers are always needed, and this is a wonderful way for friends and family to serve together.

Update: In an effort to protect the health of our guests and volunteers we are requiring all volunteers to wear masks and practice safe social distancing. This is especially important as many of our guests are among the most vulnerable people in our community.

Orientation and training for new volunteers is provided prior to the Agape Meal between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Meal service begins at 6:00 p.m. with a worship service from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. There are several ways to volunteer: set up tables, serve meals, host tables, and clean up. Email Josh Lucas with questions.

Fellowship Southwest Paid Summer Internship Informational Meeting Tonight at 6:30 p.m.

If you are interested, or you know someone who might be, there is a Zoom meeting scheduled tonight at 6:30 p.m. (CT) get all your questions answered! Register to attend Zoom Call

Broadway’s Family Ministries is excited to bring LeAnn Gardner and the S.A.F.E. seminar to Broadway, March 1-2.

  • The many facets of child safety including education about sexual development and sex education, teaching body awareness and empowerment to our children, and eliciting a strong supportive adult network to help parents and caregivers with the responsibility of keeping our children safe.

CBF Emmanuel McCall Lenten Devotional Series Coming Soon!
The 2024 Emmanuel McCall Lenten Devotional series is prepared by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship family and friends. It is a project of love that is designed to be read during the season of Lent, which begins February 14, 2024.

There are wonderful reflections on God’s Word, thought-provoking questions, prayers, incorporation of the arts and noteworthy information.

As the devotional is read, our prayer is that our hearts open to the call of God to speak, walk and act justly. And, may our faith, courage and boldness grow stronger.

Available in both English and Spanish.

Broadway Parking Changes on Sunday, February 18

We wanted to inform the congregation of parking changes that will go into effect on Sunday, February 18.

Our new neighbors, Trinity Presbyterian Church, begin services in their facility that Sunday but are limited on parking spaces. They contacted Broadway to inquire about renting some of our parking spaces on Sunday mornings. After discussion with the Finance Committee and the Real Estate Management Committee, the Board of Deacons approved entering into a 12-month parking agreement with Trinity Presbyterian. The agreement provides both parties with an opportunity to exit the agreement with 60-days’ notice.

Trinity Presbyterian will have exclusive use of the parking lot on the northwest corner of our campus. This parking lot is at the intersection of Jennings and Broadway where the bus barn used to be. Members and guests of Trinity Presbyterian will have exclusive use of this parking lot on Sundays between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Broadway members and guests should not use this lot during these times. Temporary signs will be posted each Sunday as a reminder.

Broadway members and guests can continue to use the parking lot on the east side of campus near the Main Entrance, the north lot next to the Better Business Bureau, and the lot on the west side of campus near the Community Center entrance. Parking spaces along Broadway cannot be reserved and are available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis.

Again, these parking changes go into effect on Sunday, February 18. Thanks for your cooperation and extending Broadway’s extravagant hospitality to our new neighbors.

COMMUNITY CORNER

January by the Numbers

2024 is off to strong start. Even with holiday and winter weather closures, January was a very busy month at our Community Center.

Here’s a brief report of services provided in January:

  • Sack Lunches: 1,232 lunches distributed
  • Groceries: 353 households served (1,313 persons)
  • Agape Meal: 365 guests served (over four dates)
  • Adult Clothing Ministry: 150 people served
  • Winter Coats: 50 coats, hats, and gloves distributed
  • Children’s Clothing: 25 children served
  • Rental and Utilities Assistance: $625 in financial assistance provided
  • Diaper Bank: 75 children and adults served
  • Volunteer Hours: 222 hours from 98 volunteers

To give you a sense of how much our services have increased, in January 2023 we served 164 families through our May Street Market. This January, that number increased to 353 families: a more than 100% increase since last year. The demand for our services continues to grow. We are looking for additional volunteers to serve in our May Street Market and Adult Clothing Room. To volunteer or for more information, contact Erin Cooper.

Thanks to our wonderful staff and volunteers who make these services possible and those who contribute financially to support the ministries and mission of Broadway.

Food Drive for May Street Market
We received over 160 lbs of donated food from generous Broadway members and friends this past weekend. That brings our January total of food donations to over 530 lbs! Thank you to everyone who has stocked our pantry to feed our neighbors.

Donations are still needed! Here are the primary items we need, which are currently in short supply at the Tarrant Area Food Bank:

  • Boxed Mac N Cheese
  • Canned Tomato Sauce
  • Boxes of Cereal
  • Bagged Rice
  • Bagged Pasta

Place your donated items in the blue bin outside the Centrum office on Sunday or bring them by the Community Center any time it is open.
