BROADWAY CELEBRATES

Welcoming a New Member
We celebrate with Adelynn Steinkamp and her family as she has made her profession of faith, indicated her desire to be baptized, and will be officially joining the church. Her baptism will take place on Sunday, April 30. We give thanks for Adelynn and her decision to follow in the way of Jesus.

Concord Choir Tour to Dallas
The Concord Choir went on tour to lead in worship at Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas this last weekend. It was their first time to travel and sing since 2019, due to COVID-19. Royal Lane was gracious and welcoming to our 5th and 6th grade singers, who led as the service choir for Youth Sunday. While on tour, the group carried out mission work at Crossroads Community Services. They organized produce, filled 25 lb. emergency food boxes, and sorted cat and dog food, including the assembly of 180 bags of dry dog food. They learned the importance of helping those who suffer with food insecurity, which total over 500,000 people in our local communities. The Concord Choir represented Broadway well in song, spirit, and mission. Many thanks to the adult volunteers who made this tour possible!

Supporting Broadway Youth Mission Trip and Chapel Choir Tour

We are excited to announce that the annual Broadway Youth Mission Trip and Chapel Choir Tour is just around the corner. This tour has been a tradition for over 40 years, and it has had a profound impact on the lives of young people who have had the opportunity to participate in it.

We want to invite you to join us in sponsoring this amazing experience for our youth. Your donation, at any level, will help us provide opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and make a difference in the world.

Giving is an act of faith, and it is an opportunity to participate in something greater than ourselves. When we give, we are investing in the future of our church and our community. We are supporting the next generation of leaders and world-changers.

So, we invite you to prayerfully consider making a donation to support the Broadway Youth Chapel Choir Tour. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Together, we can provide young people with life-changing experiences that will shape their lives and the world around them.

COMMUNITY CORNER

May Street Market Expands Services
We are excited to announce that our May Street Market food pantry is expanding services to include Tuesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. We believe these expanded hours will provide opportunities for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity to utilize our pantry’s services who are not able to come during the daytime hours due to work or family commitments.

Expanded hours for May Street Market begin on Tuesday, May 2.

Volunteers Needed: With this expansion of services, we will need additional volunteers on Tuesday evenings. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together in our May Street Market. Volunteer tasks include: checking in guests, assisting them with shopping in our food pantry, stocking shelves, and packing groceries. Training for volunteers is provided from 5:30 – 6:00 prior to the pantry opening. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about volunteer opportunities, contact Josh Lucas for more information.

Cloud Covered Streets
Broadway will again welcome Cloud Covered Streets to the Community Center on Friday, April 21. This faith-based ministry provides showers, laundry facilities, and haircuts to those in need. We are so thankful to offer these services to our guests and neighbors.

Cloud Covered Streets will be at Broadway’s Community Center on the first, third, and fifth Fridays every month from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help, especially those who are qualified to cut hair. Click here to volunteer.

Financial Report Budget Year 2022-23

2022-23 Fiscal Year Update
We are closing the books on the 2022-23 fiscal year. As we end the year, we have a few things to celebrate.

  • First, we ended the year slightly ahead on our budgeted contributions. Thanks to God’s faithfulness and your generosity, we exceeded our budgeted contributions goal of $1.8 million.
  • Second, we ended the year with zero on our line of credit balance for the second year in a row, and the balance on our Sacred Spaces note just slightly above $1 million.

As you can see from the financial report, expenses for the fiscal year also exceeded budget. The biggest area for budget overrun was our utilities, which were about $82,000 over budget. Increased costs for water, electricity, and natural gas were the largest factors. We have adjusted our budget in these areas for fiscal year 2023-24 in order to accommodate increased utilities pricing. We have also raised our budgeted contributions goal for the 2023-24 fiscal year to $1,850,000.

Our cash position at fiscal year’s end is about $45,000 cash on hand. Over the next several months, Broadway’s administrative staff will be working with our auditing firm, PSK, to produce an audit report for fiscal year 2022-23, which will be shared with the Board of Deacons and the congregation at upcoming meetings.

Thank you for our continued support of the mission and ministries at Broadway.
