THIS WEEK AT BROADWAY
Committee on Committees Accepting Nominations
Due Thursday, July 15, 2021

Broadway’s Committee on Committees works with nominations made by members and our new form has an interest/skills list to help match nominees to committees they may be a match for. Members can nominate themselves or someone else. Tomorrow is the deadline for submitting nominations, please consider serving on a Broadway committee or nominate another member whom you think would be a value to a committee. Fill out the online form here: Committee Interest Form
Forms can also be found in the church office. Contact info@broadwaybc.org with questions.

Contribution Statements
This is a reminder that Broadway will email contributions statements to all members and friends of Broadway later this month. Statements will include contributions from January 1 – June 30, 2021. If you have an email on file with the church, the statement will be sent to your email on Thursday, July 22. If you do not have an email on file, the statement will be mailed to your home address.

If you need to update your email address with the Business office, please email Rachael Moffett or call 817-336-5761 ext. 8281 by Wednesday, July 21.  Thanks for your faithful and generous support of the ministries of Broadway Baptist Church.

All Invited to Coffee & Fellowship in Room 302
Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

Response to our Sunday morning coffee fellowship has been great! Stop by the Good Shepherd Room and meet up with other friends and guests of Broadway before your class starts. Coffee and pastries are served each Sunday from 9:00 – 9:30 in Room 302.

This week our coffee fellowship features delicious homemade pastries from our neighborhood friends at 3 Danes Baking  as well as regular and decaf coffee from Black Coffee. Hot tea is also available.

Broadway’s coffee fellowship is a pay-what-you-can coffee house. Everyone is encouraged to do one of three things:

  • pay what you can afford
  • pay what you would normally pay
  • pay it forward, i.e., pay what you normally would, plus a little extra

Stop by Sunday morning to support these great local businesses, enjoy some delicious coffee and pastries, and fellowship with your friends at Broadway.

Worship Sunday, July 18, at 10:50 a.m.
This Sunday the Chancel Choir will sing “What Love Is This?” by Lee Dengler and “I Sing the Greatness of Our God” by Fred Bock. Ryon Price will preach from Mark 6:30-34.

Masks are optional in worship. For those who feel more comfortable with people around you also wearing masks we will have two designated spaces which require masks: back balcony and the last few rows of the south side nave for those with mobility needs. See an usher for assistance.

Join us for worship in person or via live stream on our website or on our Facebook page.

COMMUNITY CORNER
Community Center Volunteers Needed
As we continue to expand the essential services provided through our Community Center, we are in need of additional volunteers who can assist. In particular, we are looking for volunteers who can help with the organization of our May Street Market food pantry in the afternoons between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Volunteers should be able to move freely about the food pantry and lift up to 15-20 lbs. Volunteers who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask. If you are interested and available to help, contact Peter Nelson for more information.

Sack Lunch Ministry
This week the Memory care group from The Stayton made 25 sack lunches for our homeless neighbors.
Activity coordinator Valynda dropped off the cheerful bags. If you have a group or wish to organize a group to make sack lunches for our Community Center, please contact Dawn Shepard

June by the Numbers
June was another busy month at our Community Center as we continue to provide essential services to our neighbors and guests.

Here’s a brief report of services provided in June:

  • Sack Lunches: 1207 lunches distributed
  • Groceries: 208 households served (560 persons)
  • Agape Meal: 282 guests served
  • Adult Clothing Ministry: 95 people served
  • Diaper Bank: 12 families assisted
  • Rental Assistance: $1,350 in financial assistance provided

Due to low vaccination rates in the 76104 zip code, our Community Center remains closed to outside guests. Please continue to pray for those we serve in our neighborhood.

Thanks to our great staff and volunteers who make these ministries possible and those who give financially to support these ministries and partnerships.

MORE THAN ONE WAY
Grants Available for Members in Need
Many members of our congregation are feeling the financial effects of the COVID 19 crisis.  Some have been furloughed from their jobs, some have incurred medical expenses, while others have lost their livelihood altogether.  In an attempt to assist with the many needs arising from this crisis, funds from the Congregational Care and the pastoral care budgets are being made available for our members.

Each grant amount will be up to $500, depending on the need of the individual or family.  We are asking that members in need of assistance complete a simple grant application form.  Information from the application will be kept in strict confidence.  Our Pastoral staff will review the applications and make the grant assignments.

If you and/or your family could use some help during these uncertain times, please email Fran Patterson for an application.  Also, if you are looking for ways to help during this crisis, please contact Fran.

We’re excited to announce that the church offices have reopened for guests and outside groups. Office hours are:

  • Monday – Thursday — 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Fridays — 9:00 a.m. – noon

If you are hoping to meet with a staff person, we recommend that you coordinate your visit in advance.

Masks are not required for those persons who are fully vaccinated. Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should stay home. See our policy here

Summer Giving
Summer is the season of the year where our church’s expenditures often exceed our contributions. This year is no exception as we have already re-opened worship services and our church offices. Youth and children’s camps resume this summer and we continue to provide a wide range of essential services through our Community Center. Summer electric bills, repairs, and routine maintenance do not take a vacation. Thank you for your faithful support of Broadway’s ministries. Please prayerfully consider how God is leading you to give over the summer. Thanks.
