BROADWAY VISION & MISSION
Broadway seeks to be a beacon of God’s joy and justice, Christ’s hope and reconciliation, and the Holy Spirit’s courage and healing love.

We are working to create a church and world where all people are welcome and belong in the beloved community of God. Through the ministries of worship, education, compassion and advocacy, Broadway provides a place of grace, beauty, sanctuary, inclusivity, and brave faith.

LOL Chapel Choir Fundraiser 2024

The Broadway Youth Committee is excited to announce this year’s LOL Chapel Choir Performance Fundraiser: Hopelessly Hilarious—A Bob Hope Special on Sunday, April 28. We invite you to join us in Fellowship Hall after the service for lunch, laughter, and a live auction.

This event supports our annual Broadway Youth Mission Trip and Chapel Choir Tour–a tradition for over 40 years! Visit the BBC Facebook page to see the profound impact Choir Tour has had on the lives of young people who have participated in it. Not only can you support our youth by attending the fundraiser, but you can also bid on many silent auction items starting April 14—so stay tuned! You may also donate directly to Choir Tour anytime here

Giving is an act of faith and an opportunity to participate in something greater than ourselves. When we give, we invest in the future of our church and our community. We are supporting the next generation of leaders and world-changers. We invite you to prayerfully consider making a donation and/or attending the LOL Chapel Choir Performance Fundraiser to support the Broadway Youth Chapel Choir Tour. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. Together, we can provide young people with experiences that will shape their lives and the world around them.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We are grateful for your partnership in ministry.

Healing From Racism Oppression Conference
Friday, April 26, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at SMU Perkins School of Theology

On April 26, 2024 Fellowship Southwest, Perkins’s School of Theology’s Baptist House of Studies Program, Faith Commons, Baylor Scott and White Health are hosting a conference entitled “Healing from Racism and Oppression: South Africa and the Latinx Experience.” featuring Fr. Michael Lapsley and Sandy Ovalle as speakers.

Fr. Lapsley is currently the Director of the Institute for the Healing of Memories in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an Anglican priest and social justice activist who was severely injured by a letter bomb sent to him in Zimbabwe where he had been exiled by the South African government for his anti-apartheid work. He founded the Institute for the Healing of Memories in 1998 to seek to contribute to lasting and collective healing that makes possible a more peaceful and just future. Father Lapsley will be our guest preacher at Broadway on Sunday, April 28.

Sandy Ovalle is the Director of Campaigns and Mobilizing for Sojourners. She is a table setter and space-curator, rooting her work in the deep faith and strength of Chicanx and Latinx spiritual teachers. She engages around different justice areas including climate and environmental justice, immigration, women and girls and peace and nonviolence.

The conference will take place at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology from 8:30 to 3:30 on 4/26/24.

COMMUNITY CORNER

May Street Market Update
Thank you for always being there for us! We continue to rely on your generous support to keep our market shelves stocked. As food pantries across Tarrant County experience increased demand, it has become harder to get the resources we need. To supplement what we receive from Tarrant Area Food Bank we make specific requests weekly. We receive hundreds of, sometimes over one thousand, pounds of food each month, which goes directly to the families who need it most. When shopping for your family this week, consider adding one or a few items for our friends in the May Street Market!
 Our current needs include:
Peanut Butter
Canned Tuna/Salmon
Canned Beans
Canned Soup
Cereal
Mac N Cheese

Spring Cleaning? Consider Donating to the Community Center
Spring has sprung! As you begin dusting off your shelves and cleaning out your closets consider the Community Center as a place to donate your gently used shoes, clothes, blankets, and towels. We accept donations for both children and adults. Our greatest needs continue to be men’s jeans, athletic shoes, and belts. You can drop off your clothing and/or food donations anytime the Community Center is open or in the blue bin next to the reception desk on Sunday mornings.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Community Center, we have opportunities available throughout the week. Contact Erin Cooper to learn more.
